REVIEW QUESTIONS:
1. Interactivity in new media could be as simple as navigation links on a web site or as involved in a flash game posted on a web site.
3. Linear navigation is a type of navigation that is set by the designer so that the end user can only go from one page to the next.
4. Modular navigation is a type of navigation that is how most sites are set up, There is a base page and broken down more and more, the user can sort of jus brows to any page they want to with out having to go in any paticular order.
5. Open navigation is a kind of its own, you have the links say on the left, and can get on ANY page, from anywhere.
6.Deep navigation is built in layers and shallow navigation would be more like open navigation system, where you can get to any page from any spot.
EXERCISES:
1.
2. The first site i drew a map over is Blackhawk.com, i believe that the type of navigation they use is “modular” and for the second i chose 27bslash6.com, this one is “open” you can get anywhere from anywhere.
3. fonts with little hooks ( called serifs ) on the ends of the font. the serifs usually help make the font more readable.

1501 – First italics made – was made for small format or used in pocket books, where space demanded more condensed type.
Claude Garamond 1541 – He was born in Paris, France. became his own publisher, featuring his own types including a new italic. Made the font “Garamond” which is still in use today. He made it for a royally ordered book; Here is a picture http://www.citrinitas.com/history_of_viscom/images/masters/granjon.jpg
1. Style – In design, an area allotted to some form or an entire composition.
3. Style can be used to create a context by, say you use an old font from the 1700’s it could link things to a different time period or if you used a sandy background and an older looking font it might look like something from egypt pyramid.
4.A layout of a design is basically what it says; it is how everything is laid out. How everything is put so it looks in order and easy to read.
5.A gird can be used as a layout tool very easily, it can help keep things in line and in sync. If you make a gird you can for ex. keep all links aligned on the left and header on top; text all aligned where it is supposed to be, etc.
2.Unity is how all the different parts of something fit together. Everything in new design should look as it belongs together. When a user enters a site they should be able to click on a link and know if they are on the same site or not, it should all be “united”?
Question: 2. How does variation of line thickness affect a drawing?
Answer: Line thickness can show depth in an image.
Question: 4. What is hatching?
Answer: Hatching is the use of drawn lines to emulate value produced by lighting effects. An example of this is hatching that is used to create darker areas in an image.
Question: 5. How can pixelation affect a curved line displayed on a monitor?
Answer: It will make the line look like it has jagged edges, because the monitor can only display square pixels, there are no round or curved ones, and a pixel can be only one color.
